We have a rule for traveling: whenever there is a hill, we must go up it. And so, we escaped the tourist hordes once again, and took the Nordkettenbahn (train) and cable car up the Seegrube, a mountain overlooking Innsbruck.
I am not what you might call a cable car person. In fact, they make me very nervous! But it’s always worth it when I get to the top. So peaceful and the flowers are lovely.
The Nordkettenbahn starts in the city and goes about halfway up the mountain.
To get higher, you must take this cable car (gulp).
The giant wheel that pulls the cable car up the mountain.
Wow.
Cows. With cowbells! You can hear the bells from a very long distance away.
Hiking trails everywhere. Most are more difficult than we were equipped for that day, but we did an easy 30-minute trail around the top.
You can even do yoga at the Seegrube “hutte.”
Alpine flowers in every nook and cranny.
A type of heather, I think.
Orange dandelions?
Tiny daisies.
Tiny buttercups.
OK, one more.
Going down in the cable car.
And a stop at the Alpenzoo, of course. Sheep need to be fed!
