And lots of it! We shipped our car a month ago and I have barely noticed. I can get anywhere I want to on die öffis, a complicated network of under- and above-ground trains, trams, buses and bike paths. It took a while to get the hang of it, but once I did, I never looked back.
It is an awesome system, and I am sure going to miss it when I get back to lame public transport in the States.
U-Bahn station two blocks from our apartment.
Trams lined up in front of the U-Bahn station.
These signs show when the next tram or bus is coming and occasionally yell semi-intelligible announcements at people.
Viennese traffic jam 🙂
Free rental bikes–people use these a lot.
Electric bus recharging on the tram lines. Clever.
Tourist buses are everywhere in the summer.
Regular tram and the Ring Tram, which takes elderly tourists around downtown.
You can get any kind of food at an U-Bahn stop. Noodles and kebab? No problem.
Typical wurstlstand–these have really good bratwurst and hot dogs.
