So, over two months after moving into our apartment our slipcovers arrived. Bye-bye blue brocade!
FWIW, I ordered from Sure Fit. They screwed up the order the first time–their system couldn’t deal with a DPO address. But, when I called them about it, they were very nice: apologizing and offering me 10 percent off plus free shipping on a replacement order. Can’t argue with that.
I am not crazy about the slipcovers. They are kind of flimsy. When I think “duck cloth” I think a jeans-weight fabric, not this linen-y wrinkly stuff. But are they better than blue brocade and stained beige polyester? Oh yeah. Not to mention covering up the previous tenant’s dog hair. I like dogs, I really do. But only in the FS would a non dog-owner spend as much time vacuuming up dog hair as I have in this lifetime. And that’s all I have to say on the subject.
These are the first slipcovers I have ever bought. And there certainly seems to be a lot of tucking involved. Not to mention ironing. But is it worth it? At the end of the day, I think so. I have nothing against well-used furniture. I’ve lived with it all my life. But I would like to be the one who picked it out and used it. It’s just different when you are living with someone else’s stuff. And someone else’s dog hair. The End.
